Ryan Reynolds does Hal Jordan justice on screen. I wasn't really sure what to expect from this being most films I've seen "RR" in he has been a comedian....Not so in Green Lantern. The effects in this film were very well done. My only gripe about this film is that 3d is not really needed to convey the story and there wasn't any "IN YOUR FACE" moments requiring 3d. Beyond that I felt it was great! The Mainstream Critics got it Wrong AGAIN!!! Don't Skip it, Go SEE Green Lantern!!! P.S. Stay until through the credits for a bonus scene!!

I was excited to see Superman Returns Brandon Routh hangup his tights and pick up his Sherlock Homes gear to investigate the mishaps of the underworld with his friend played by Sam Huntington. This film was somewhat campy like the old 1960's batman show. It had the look and feel of a comic book, but it wasn't all that I expected. The film moved rather slow for a 90 minute film. Had several comedic moments but also several parts you could go to sleep to. I feel the cast was great but the script needed a little more umph. Run time: 90 Min Rated: PG - 13 Film Grade: C+

The movie didn't disappoint Scream fans but kinda falls flat on it's face for those who aren't familiar with the series. Personally I enjoyed the film. I have been a fan from the start and one of it's creator Wes Craven so It only needed Wes Craven and I was going to be there no matter what!! The Film has a mix of the "Old Generation" coming back with Neve Campbell & Courtney Cox and the "New Generation" to include Emma Roberts and Anthony Anderson. The mix worked well for this film critic, but I heard from several people at the theater that they had no clue who Generation X cast members were. In keeping with the rules I set for reviewing film......... Continuity, Ease Of Understanding, Can it Stand On It's Own and of course the WOW factor I cannot give this film the grade I want personally. Personally I say B+, but that's not what you want. Film Grade B-

Tron: Legacy is a new film for the current generation and mine!! Everyone will enjoy this film. Parents will bring their kids and some adult will relive childhood memories as they sit and watch TRON: Legacy!! Basically in this 30 year old sequel, Our hero Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) is still missing! His son Sam (Garrett Hedlund) is almost 30 and his best friend Alan (Bruce Boxleitner) is trying to keep his company vision alive when all of the sudden Alan's pager goes off from a number that hasn't worked in years. Sam goes to investigate how his father's old number called from their arcade when he get Zapped into the Grid. This film was full of action. Great Special Fx!! Awesome Soundtrack! Really Great Cast!! The only way you should want to see this film is in 3d IMAX! Worth going to see again in the theater!! I plan to see it twice more before Christmas!!! I will Buy this one on Blu-Ray!!!! We have a guy who goes from Asia, being a humble yet deadliest master swordsman alive to a humble laundry clerk in a town in the Old West with a population of 500. Jang Dong Gun plays "Skinny" who is tasked with wiping out his clans rival. He eliminates all living members except one....a little Baby girl. He bonds with the child in an instant and is compelled to protect it and ensure no harm comes to it. He fleas his home and journey's to America where he teams up with Anne (Kate Bosworth) and a town of carnival folks only to be tracked and hunted down by his clan and having to defend his new friends and his new way of life. This film was full of action. Not alot of blood and guts as you might expect from a "Ninja" film but just enough to get the point across. Not much cursing either. Their are a few scenes that might not be so easy on the stomach because of the subject matter they deal with, but all in all it was a Great Film!! Worth going to see again in the theater!! Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays a Felon know as "Driver" being released from prison. He's been locked up for 10 years for robbing a bank. During the celebration of the robbery Driver and his brother are both shot and left for dead. Driver was the only survivor. His mission in life is to track down everyone involved with his brother's death and kill them all. Very action packed. Film moves Fast. Really great cast that included Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Carla Gugino, Maggie Grace and Moon Bloodgood. This film isn't nice at all. It's pure adrenaline and rage. Johnson is a Killing machine in this film. Awesome pice of work. I will get this when it comes out on Blu-Ray. She can sing, dance and she's wasting away in her hometown. It's time for a change.....so she grabs her last pay check and buys a bus ticket to L.A. to follow her dreams. While in L.A. looking for a job as a singer / dancer she passes the Burlesque Lounge and feels enticed to enter. When she does...She decides that this is the dream job for her. Here is my first problem. Who in their right mind is going to travel 2500+ miles to get a job as a glorified go-go dancer when they have the talent of Christina Aguilera?? The character played by Christina seems like a person who knows what they want out of life but instead settles for a career as a Burlesque dancer. This character has all the real live talent of Aguilera but settles for this??? Seems a bit unrealistic!! The cast includes Cher, Christina Aguilera, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet, Julianne Hough, Peter Gallagher, Alan Cumming, Kristen Bell & Stanley Tucci. I'm not sure who the secondary cast members were but their acting performance was not up to the level of the above mentioned. It seemed like this film was written around Aguilera and that is fine by me. The dancing was great and very entertaining as was the music and the vocals by Cher and Christina Aguilera. The rest of the film was just Blah. I had expected a bit more with the two powerhouse vocal talents they enlisted for this film than they had. This was not even a one hit wonder if you ask me. I'm just glad I didn't pay to see it, I would have requested a refund. Written & Directed by: Steven Antin Rated: PG-13 Run Time: 100 Minutes Film Grade: C+

Russell Crowe plays John, a desperate husband who is looking for any means to help get his wife out of prision. Elizabeth Banks plays Laura, the wife who was wrongfully accused of murder and sentenced to 20 years. After exhausting all legal resources John resorts to seeking out a former criminal turned author (Liam Neeson) who may be the key for the plan that he is putting together to break his wife out of prison. This film was a very exciting, thrilling and suspenseful film!! Well worth watching more than once!! Directed by: Paul Haggis Rated: PG-13 Run Time: 128 Minutes Film Grade: B+

The film (as with the last one) picks right up where the other one left off. If your not familiar with the storyline or missed the last film.....You WILL BE LOST!!! So Rent the others first then come watch this one. This has to be the DARKEST film in this series and thus far my favorite. We are finally getting to the dark evil that has been plotting against Harry Potter since the first film. Harry, Hermione and Ron are on the run and must find and destroy the Horcruxes which holds the secret to Voldemort's immortality and destruction. We have more romantic jealousy, even a STEAMY scene on screen that took many by surprise! You can tell that this is a more mature Harry Potter and friends. I would seriously recommend parents watch it first before allowing the younger generation (6 - 12) to watch this film since there are mature themes that appear in this film. Well worth watching more than once!! Directed by: David Yates Rated: PG-13 Run Time: 146 Minutes Film Grade: B+

In the latest film directed by Tony Scott, two train employees....a veteran Frank Barnes (Washington) and Will Coleson (Pine) are out on a training run in on their train having issues with each other when they discover their petty problems are just that by learning there is a unmanned runaway train headed their way and towards Coleson's home town. This film was a very suspenseful, action packed and just an awesome piece of photography to watch. The story was very believable. The sad thing is that I can actually see this happening. Well worth watching more than once!! Rated PG-13 Run Time: 107 Minutes Film Grade: B+

So this last Halloween brought us the last film is the
horror series SAW. This film without a doubt ties up the
loose ends from the prior 6 films. In a sense you could say
that this film comes FULL CIRCLE!!

This film brings back stars Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, Cary Elwes as Dr. Gordon, Costas Mandylor as Detective Hoffman, and Betsy Russell
as Jill Tuck. The Supporting cast includes Sean Patrick Flanery, Gina Holden, Chad Donella, Laurence Anthony, Dean Armstrong, Naomi Snieckus, James Van Patten.

This film is VERY graphic and not for the weak stomached!
Lots of blood, gore and dismemberment takes place as the battle to live or die and make your choice takes place!!

Hereafter Movie Review by, Rajiim Gross of The RAG Review 10/23/10 http://the-rag-review.info Hereafter is the latest film directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Matt Damon, Cecil De' France, Jay Mohr, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Film is about three people who know nothing about each other who are brought together by tragedy. We have a French news reporter who has a near death experience, a British boy who loses his twin brother and an American who is a gift that he views as a curse that allows him to connect to those who have passed on from this realm of existence. The film is an emotionally impacting film. You can really relate to the characters on a level that in some part get even the toughest of guys to tear up in places. I think it is one of the best films I have seen this year and won't be surprises if it gets nominated for several awards!! Film Rated: PG-13 Run Time: Approx 120 Minutes Film Grade: A

Mel Gibson in "The Hangover 2"? Not anymore, says director Todd Phillips.

Though the troubled 54-year-old actor had been confirmed to do a cameo as a Bangkok tattoo artist in the follow-up to the 2009 hit comedy, he has now been cut from the film.

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team," Phillips told CNN in a statement. "But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

Phillips didn't specify who wasn't on board with Gibson joining the cast, but some are speculating that it might have been actor Zach Galifianakis, who alluded to problems on the set during a podcast earlier this month, reports New York magazine's Vulture.

"I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to [listen] ... I'm not making any leeway," he said. "I'll tell you about it later. It's very frustrating."

Paranormal Activity 2 is the Prequel / Update to last years blockbuster hit Paranormal Activity. In this film we get a background on what led to the events in the first film. We have the two characters from the first film Katie & Micah and also Katie's family...her sister, brother-in-law, niece, nephew, their dog, niece's boyfriend and of course the Demonic force with a bit more attitude this time around.

This was filmed in the same first person perspective as the first one with footage from security cameras. It has a bit more shock value than the first, but I don't think it really surpasses the first film scare wise. There is some stuff that will catch you off guard and make you jump in your seat, just not as adrenal filled as the first.

Film is rated R.
Run Time 91 Minutes.
Directed by Tod Williams.

This film is right on time for it's Vampire theme!! It's October and many are looking for that next Vampire film to go and watch....well here's one that's a bit darker than the Twilight series with younger stars.

Chloe Moretz stars as Abby, a 12 year old (in body) girl who moves into a quiet little town and encounters a young man who is 12 that is taken by her. She ;moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee). He himself is a bit of a loner. He gets bullied in school and is having a very hard time adjusting to the fact his parents are divorcing. Abby is looking for acceptance.....so is Owen. Abby just had a little diet problem.....She Needs Blood To Survive.

This is a Romeo & Juliet style of story where two people are from different sides of the tracks (so to speak) and wind up doing things that they normally wouldn't do to keep the blooming love growing between them. Directed by Matt Reeves, this film is one I really enjoyed.

Rated R. Run Time 2 hours & 20 minutes.

So Like WOW!! Here is another film with a great cast and it's worth seeing......I Think It's a MUST SEE FILM, that doesn't appear yet to be getting the Credit it's due!!

RED stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren as a retired bunch of the CIA's most lethal assets who once we praised, looked at as heroes, and defended our country without a second thought are now Targets of the CIA. Mary-Louise Parker stars as Willis's girlfriend who is along for this comedy, action ride! The group is being pursued by Agent Cooper (Karl Urban, Star Trek) who has orders to terminate them all ASAP!

Film is Rated PG-13 and runs 111 Minutes.

At the time of this posting it was still in 3rd place in the box office sales.

This was a interesting film. Seems like this is becoming a trend filming a movie in one space rather than a huge set.....I think it worked for this film. Buried stars Ryan Reynolds and was directed by Rodrigo Cortes. A private named Paul Conroy, a U.S. contractor, is kidnapped and buried alive for the ransom of $5,000,000 USD. He is buried with a cell phone, lighter, pen, and a glow stick. Pretty good suspense thriller for not going anywhere except the 8 foot box we see Paul buried in for the whole 90 minutes of this film.

M. Night Shyamalan's Devil has to be his best film to date!!
All I can say is WOW!! This film kept me on the edge of my seat the
whole time! Kept me guessing who the bad guy (Devil) was and really shows
you don't have to see blood splatters every 30 seconds to make a good horror
film. Great Horror, Suspense Thriller and a MUST SEE!!

Instant Halloween Classic!

It’s Thursday September 23, 2010….The anticipation grows as I am waiting on the phone to ring. I’m looking at the clock as 2:30pm approaches…..I begin to sweat, begin to shiver as a cool breeze blows through the room and then……..RING RING! It’s writer / director Adam Green on the phone!!

Adam and I go through the formal introductions and then get into the meat of Hatchet. I asked Adam why Louisiana was chosen as the backdrop for his film. “….It’s got swamps that are creepy and it was just the perfect setting.” I admitted to Adam that until the night before we spoke, I had never seen Hatchet. I found it to be a very dark yet comical type of horror film. He mentioned films like Fright Night and Evil Dead were films that he liked and wanted to make films of a similar nature. “….They don’t make films like those anymore. I want something that I will enjoy as much as my audience will. Sometimes on opening nights I will go with a hooded jacket and sunglasses into a theater and watch along with the audience. There is nothing like feeling the reaction of the audience. The critics I don’t care about, I make my films for the average movie goer. If they are happy, then I am.” I found wasn’t sure if Adam actual wrote the entire script or just part of it… “I wrote it” he said. I had to compliment him on some of the one liners in the film that without a doubt were very comical!! The one that sticks out the most was said by Mercedes McNab (Played Harmony in Buffy The Vampire Slayer Tv Series & Angel) “Does anyone know the area code for 911??” She had several one liners that were just funny! I asked Adam if there were any real life experiences that were inspirations for the original Hatchet film. He replied in the opening scene where the main character (Ben played by Joel David Moore) in his film he wasn’t up to drinking and partying with his friends, a lot of that was based on actual events as were several other scenes. Hatchet was released in 2006 in the USA. It’s the story of Serial Killer Victor Crowley who was born deformed and later scarred for life after a fire in his home set by trick or treaters. Victor becomes the swamp legend boogie man that no one believes exsists until they get CHOPPED with a Hatchet! The cast included Tony Todd (Candyman), Joel David Moore (James Cameron’s Avatar), Mercedes McNab, and Robert Englund (the original Freddy Kruger) Like every good horror film the Villain doesn’t die in the first film……There always has to be a Sequel!! Which brings us to Hatchet II. Hatchet II picks up where the first film left off. If you haven’t seen the first film, rent it from Netflix and watch it before you go see the second one.

(From Press Release) The follow-up to writer/director Adam Green’s old-school horror smash HATCHET, HATCHET II picks up at the exact moment that the original HATCHET ends, wherein the quiet but hot-tempered Marybeth (Danielle Harris) is in a small boat in the Louisiana swamps, screaming for her life as she tries to free herself from the clutches of the deformed, swamp-dwelling killer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). Crowley has murdered Marybeth’s family and other fellow vacationers who had come together on a tourist excursion in the swamplands outside of New Orleans.

Marybeth escapes from Crowley and manages to make it back to civilization, where she once again encounters voodoo shop proprietor Reverend Zombie (Tony Todd), who had helped to arrange Marybeth and company’s earlier, ill-fated tour of the area. To help Marybeth and also serve his own secret agenda, Reverend Zombie recruits a hardened pack of hunters to head back into the swamp to seek revenge on Victor Crowley.

Hatchet II opens Friday October 1st 2010 at MIDNIGHT in select cities for special AMC Theater Screenings and then as early as 11:45 AM October 1st at all theaters. So today started out like most days. I got up, cleaned up, got dressed, took my meds, and got ready for another routine day......Until 1pm this afternoon when I sat down with WWE superstar John Cena for a relaxed interview. Just two guys talking shop! We discussed his new film "LEGENDARY" which he stars in along with Danny Glover, Patricia Clarkson and Devon Graye.

I really must saw that John is one of the most down to earth people I have met in the entertainment industry. He was very polite, respectful and patient. At one point I got tongue tied and he simply said "Take your time...It okay man!".

I was very happy that he took 10 minutes out of his schedule to talk with me about himself, his latest film, and what could be the future of John Cena.

So Hollywood has been going back and making old TV Shows into modern movies for the big screen. Not all TV to Film Movies have been a success, but this one I feel is an INSTANT HIT!!

The A-Team Movie was a Fresh Total Redressing of the 80’s classic show with a new cast of some of todays best actors! It kept true to the shows humor, the character traits and signature catch phrases as well as the iconic presence of Hannibal’s cigar’s and B.A.’s Van!

The 2010 A-Team was played by Liam Neesen (Taken) as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) as Face, Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Murdock and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (Never Surrender) as B.A. Baracus. Supporting cast includes Jessica Biel, Brial Bloom, Gerald McRaney and more.

I saw it once, now I have to take my son to see it!!

IRON MAN 2 brings a Nightmare to Elm Street as it opens today Friday May 7, 2010. Last week when Iron Man 2 opened overseas it made $100 Million is sales which was half the of the budget allotted for the films production! I anticipate that the USA weekend box office sales will go through the ceiling. The AMC theaters at the Newport on The Levee had 5 of 20 houses playing Iron Man 2 at the midnight screeing and I was told already was close to selling out some friday night shows.

This film was AWESOME! It has a Great Script, Great Cast which includes Robert Downey Jr. returning as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Don Cheadle as Rhodey, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper and Sam Rockwell as Happy.

The fact that Terrance Howard wasn’t part of the cast didn’t actually come into play. The performance by Don Cheadle into Howard’s former role was seamless. The movie was flawless and was a credit to the director Jon Favreau.

Film Grade: A+

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET the 2010 remake was the best remake I’ve seen in a long while! This film was much darker than the original, but stays very close to the original story. It’s not a copy, it’s definatly a remake for a modern audience.

This version was directed by Samuel Bayer. Jackie Earle Haley was Awesome as Freddy Krueger. It was hard to envision someone else playing such an iconic role that spanned 8 feature films, but Jackie did it well. The young cast as the teen victims were excellent in their roles as well. Rooney Mara plays a different Nancy. She didn’t grab me the way Heather Langenkamp did, but is a likeable character that grows on you.

I’m looking forward to more Freddy films with this new cast of characters! Great Job Guys!!

DATE NIGHT is the new film starring Steve Carrell & Tina Fey with a great supporting cast! Film is about a couple who is tired of doing the same old routine as a married couple and decides to spice up their lives a bit by doing something out of the norm on DATE NIGHT….problem is DATE NIGHT becomes a bit more exciting than they bargin for!

Film Rated PG-13 and runs approx 90 minutes. Very fun and entertaining!
